“The way we talk to our children becomes their inner voice.”
— Peggy O’Mara
Sometimes, a random moment reminds me of the important things in life.
One summer when my daughter was about four years old, we had spent time flying kites at the beach, collecting leaves on nature walks, racing go carts, playing mini golf and other great fun. Visiting the local library, she bounded from the car and blurted out three words: “Every precious moment!” It was a total non sequitur.
I asked what she meant, and she just smiled. She probably had heard the phrase somewhere and repeated it because she liked the way it rolled off her tongue, but the phrase struck me because I had been thinking about how precious this time had been with my daughter. It seemed like only yesterday that I brought my daughter home from the hospital, and the next day this little baby was a six-year old talking up a storm.
I’m glad I take the time to share and enjoy these precious moments with my daughter….
